Je veux ta tête sur un plateau.

Oh, the French. What would we do without them?

Please enjoy this song, video, and particularly the lyrics. Perfectly exemplifies the difference between North American and European sexuality. Also the difference between North American/European approaches to the female body if you read the comments on the youtube video. Which one has the perfect body? Which is too fat, too skinny? Is this video risque? Why can't we accept nudity for what it is?

Tiens c’est parfait tu vas me porter

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept It......

Alright, University of Toronto...

GQ featured Ivy League fashion in their latest issue and the results are less than wonderful. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to outdo our Ivy League neighbors. Simply and completely outdo them. The Studio will be out around UofT campus this week and next, camera in hand, and will be taking shots of the fashionable folk of UofT. We'll post the Ivy League shots today, and over the next week will be featuring stand-out students from all over UofT campus.

Say cheese..

Your Princeton challengers:

Mystery Box & J.J. Abrams

Producer, director, screenwriter, actor, and founder of Bad Robot, J.J. Abrams is a modern day Renaissance Man. Never heard of him? If you've ever watched Lost, Alias, Felicity, Mission: Impossible III, Cloverfield, or Star Trek, you're familiar with his work. Yes, the 44 year old Abrams, originally from New York, has worked with such caliber actors as Harrison Ford, Mel Gibson (...), Tom Cruise, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Zoe Saldana, Diane Keaton, and Rachel McAdams.

In this TED talk, J.J. Abrams talks about his love for the unseen mystery - very, very evident in Lost - and how it all began. The man is charismatic, enlightening, and smart as a whip. Enjoy, ladies and gents.

Back to the Future on Your Feet..

Fashion and film collide once again with the arrival of the DMC x Nike 6.0 DeLorean Dunk, a shoe inspired by the iconic car of the classic film series Back to the Future. Matte silver echoes its stainless steel, graphic lines replace traditional stitching, and the shoe's sole - red, orange, and white - gives a nod to the DeLorean's headlights.

These babies will be available on November 26th, aka this Friday, online and at select Nike stores.

Marty and the Doc sold separately.

In Love With a View - TIFF Featured Film 2010

For those of you who didn't get a chance to see any screenings at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, here is a featured short film shot by Jonathan Wagner. Set in rural Ontario, this film is extremely down to earth, portraying an average group of teenagers in their day to day lives, watching them make sense of heartbreak and trying to figure out where their lives will lead.

It's appealing in its simplicity; don't expect Bond action, Scorsese complexity or Cameron graphics. Rather, this film speaks on behalf of the average young Canadian and the things that weigh on his or her respective minds.

Slow to start, but give it a chance. This short film was featured at TIFF for a reason - it will surprise you with its uncanny ability to see inside your own head.

The Color of Freedom

When words lack ammunition and speech is out of place,
Thoughts in Technicolor.

ABBEY LEE

Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw is the model of the moment, and she shows you why. While some prefer the classy and always-put-together-chic of ladies like American socialite Olivia Palermo, models like Abbey Lee add a whole nother dimension to fashion. Her style is playful and eclectic, with strains of different cultures - particularly the Native American influence of Australia - always evident in what she wears. Refusing to stick to the labels she kills on the catwalk, Abbey Lee mixes vintage with new, American with French, African with Scandinavian. The outcome? Fashion influenced by time, space, and worldly ideas of beauty and sexuality.

Please admire this girl's taste. Even when you don't like something, you have to admire her ability to wear it out with no mind to critics. Enjoy.

Superhero Fashion: Capes

   ?

When you hear the word "cape", most people think of Count Dracula or some kind of superhero. Think again: Capes are back for F/W 2010. The slicker version of a poncho, houses such as Givenchy, Rag&Bone, Yves Saint Laurent, and Carolina Herrera have all been designing capes for the season. Some futuristic, some classic, some edgy and some feminine, capes have an appeal to them that's hard to match. Warm, easy to move around in, aesthetically appealing, and a throwback to Dracula days. Examples on the runways:

Kings of Leon: Come Around Sundown

Kings of Leon is out with their new album, Come Around Sundown, and I am disappointed.
It's a bit lacklustre, but decide for yourself. Here a few tracks off of the album:

The Legend of Mr. Rager...Legendary Indeed

As we're positive most of you have already heard, Kid Cudi is out with his sophomore album Man on the Moon II: The Legend of Mr. Rager. Born Scott Ramon Seguro Mescudi, the Kid released his mixtape A Kid Named Cudi in 2008 and followed it with Man on the Moon: The End of Day in 2009. Crookers took his biggest single - Day n Nite - and mixed it, resulting in Kid Cudi becoming a household name. Signed with Universal and starring in HBO's How to Make It in America, Cudi is quickly becoming a hip-hop staple.

If you haven't heard any tracks off his new album, allow us to introduce you to a few:

Pop Shop Topshop

Despite being around since June, the existence of TopShop in Toronto is a little known fact.

Lack of good promotion? Reliance on word-of-mouth? Keeping it a secret from crazed teenage girls? Whatever the reason, it has just recently come to my attention that the British shop Topshop with the cult following exists on Ossington Ave, in the 800 square foot back section of Jonathan + Olivia. Worried that I was way behind or everyone was keeping it secret from me, I asked around and lo and behold, not many girls I know have heard about it either.

But yes, Jackie O'Brien - owner of Jonathan and Olivia [named after her niece and nephew..cute] - succeeded in stealing Topshop's first foray in Canada from The Bay, where it was originally set to open a pop shop. Instead they set up in the back of her store on Ossington, an area that will surely be a new Toronto hotspot within the next few years. Reviews claim that Topshop doesn't fit in with the style of her store (she carries brands like Alexander Wang and Rag&Bone), that Bloor West would've been preferable to Ossington, and that the collection is overpriced and buyers chose the wrong items for Toronto street style.

Can't really comment on these complaints as I haven't been yet, but regardless, it's exciting news. Topshop won't be there for long; a pop shop is essentially a test of the Toronto market. If the pop shop does well, Topshop opens up a legitimate store (expect nothing short of huge and spectacular: Topshop is 5 storeys on Oxford Street in England and 2 storeys in New York) here in Toronto. If it performs decently, they leave the pop shop for a year or two to see if it gains a following, but don't open a store. And if it does horribly................they probably won't be back to Canada for a while.

Anyway, Jonathan + Olivia, Topshop - Kate Moss line included - on Ossington Ave. right here in Toronto. Excellent news for those of us who love London fashion.
