Google Celebrates Robert Louis Stevenson

Rest in Peace to an author we all know and love..

Today if you visit the Google homepage - which undoubtedly many of you will - you'll notice that their banner today features a skull-and-crossbones flag, a treasure chest, a pirate, and his pirate ship. Google is celebrating the illustrious author Robert Louis Stevenson, responsible for such literary classics as Treasure Island and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Stevenson's work also inspired various film adaptions, including the 1941 Jekyll/Hyde, which was subsequently nominated for three Academy Awards. Vast creative talent and an envy-inducing imagination leads us to commemorate Mr. Stevenson on the day of his would-be 160th birthday.
